To comply with Water Quality and Public Health requirements it is essential that certain water supply pipes and mains are disinfected.
Those requiring disinfection are:
• Service pipes between 32mm and 63mm diameter greater than 100m in length.
• Any main larger than 63mm in diameter.
• Any service pipe or main that has been open to atmosphere and becomes contaminated with ground water, sewage or any other contaminant.
We have the experience and equipment to both pressure test main installations and then disinfect by chlorination all pipework and mains prior to commissioning.

Mains pressure testing is available for all main sizes and are tested to a minimum of 1.5 times the pipe pressure rating in accordance with the Water Research Council test procedure Type 1 and Type 2.
Water main disinfection is carried out to all DWI and Water Utility company requirements. Once disinfected a water quality bacteriological sample is taken. The sample is laboratory tested and analysed for total coliform, e.coli and a 48 hour plate count or TVC ( total viable count ). It is only upon satisfactory laboratory report of the water quality sample that the disinfected main is passed for commissioning.
